they are called yahoo avatars, if you type that in your browser it will come up, you can create your color of skin,hair shape&colors of eyes.The best thing is, you can shop for a wardrobe,accessories,pets,backgrounds and more=)Its a blast especially when I want  to shop but dont have any money;-} try it its fun plus you will get your cartoon character;)

Hello,

You can create your Avatar in two ways:: you can either click on the picture frame in your e-mail account (at Welcome page) OR you can go to: get at your Mail Welcome page OR you can go to: http://avatars.yahoo.com/

First, select your Avatar's gender at "Preferences" in Blue fonts at the top right side of the page (You need this only if you want to change the gender that you get automatically); Then,

1) Click on "Appearance" -- for Face, eyes' color & Hair styles / color;

2) Click on "Apparel" -- for Clothes;

3) Next on "Extras" -- to select Pets, Hats, Glasses, etc. etc.,

4) "Backgrounds" -- for different kind of backgrounds from Snowy mountains to Sunset at the Beach;

5) After all the selections, click "Save Changes" in Orange box, located below to the Avatar (at the left side of the page).

** If you like more than one hair style or hats, etc., you can save those items in "My Favorites".  You can see "+Add to my favorites" above to every item.  Click on it.  You can save upto 32 items.

** You can also check "Avatar Towns" which is a new feature.  It has the same things as above but with different look :)

To show your Avatar in Yahoo Answers::

Click on your name or the grey picture box beside to your name, you will get your "My Profile" page;

Click on "Edit My Info" located beside to your name, points, level, etc. box;

You will get "Edit My Profile" page -- Select "Use My Yahoo Avatar" option at Picture Column;

Click "Preview" to save the changes, then click OK.
