  1. I would get something other than a ferret, because even ferrets can be a pain to the people who love them! They are hard to take care of for some people because they can dig at the carpet near doors they want to open, ruining it - they can also p**p and pee on the carpet (yes, litterboxes work, but not all the time)....

They are expensive to give medical care to, and their food is relatively expensive. You can't feed cheap cat food them. They get sick a lot compared to cats and dogs.

So I would suggest finding a different kind of pet if you don't want to be a bother!

  2. Why don't you try suggesting a different pet?

Ferrets are a lot of responsibility and maintenance.

I think that maybe they'll be easier to persuade if you started with something easy.  Try like a betta fish.  If you want something a little more cuddly, try a hamster or gerbil.  Rats are awesome pets, but a lot of people don't like their tails.

If you start off with something easier, it will get both you and your parents used to the idea of having a pet in the house.

Whatever you choose, do TONS of research.  Letting them and yourself know you know what you're talking about, and applying it will help everyone be more open to the idea.

petsmart.com has care guides that have a lot of very basic information to start you off.

  3. A ferret is too much responsibility for you trust me. They are high maintance and difficult pets. wait till your older.

My sister has a ferret and neglects it quite alot and leaves it in its own filth for long periods of time. They are just too high energy for kids to have. Maybe when you're older. IF you decide to get a ferret think about it, if you get bored of the Furret or its to high energy for you, you will leave it in its cage most of the time and thats fine for you but for the furret its prison, its h**l. Get a furret when you're older and more capable.

For now get a rat. They sleep alot, and are affectionate and social  Kind of like a lazy dog but lazy. They are the  kind of animal for a kid ok. Trust me on this. It will be better for you and any potential furret.

  4. well what you do is one day while you all {you and your parents}are sitting down just say something like:"it wouldnt be so lonely if we had a an animal,a ferret, and see if that works.

~let me know if it works message me

  5. Build or buy a cage for it, and get feeding dishes and toys .... this might show how keen you are to get a ferret

  6. I have to agree with Rain - ferrets are seriously high maintenance.  We had two when I was growing up and they are difficult to tame and can be particularly vicious.  I'd suggest starting out with something that doesn't bite as much.  Plus, that whole story about them getting up your trouser/pants leg?  Completely true.  Dangerous little sods, even if you pay attention to them and look after them properly.  Definitely not a good pet choice.  A rescue animal is a better bet - or start smaller with a hamster or a gerbil - something you can keep in your room that won't impinge on your parents at all.

  7. Ask your parents the reasoning why you can't have a pet. Then do some research on the pet and bring it to them. If no one has an allergy then they will give in if you are responsible and mature about it.

this is a good site to look at for more information on all animals, after you choose your you can narrow your search down and get more and so on and so on.
