  1. google the state, county, city and name of the deceased.

  2. no such thing - you WILL have to pay.

  3. I don't think you can. People get those and steal the identity. You have to contact the local govt and fill out a form.

  4. Wendy gave you a really good answer.  There are a few states with death certificates that are over 50 years old online.  They are Utah, West Virginia, Arizona, Missouri, and another one that I can't think of off the top of my head.  Anything more recent CANNOT be found online and they most certainly will not be free.  States make too much money off of vital records for them to be free. Furthermore, opening up the more recent deaths opens up the families up to fraud or identity theft.  That is why they are restricted records.

  5. You can't get a free copy. You'll have to pay.

  6. Here in the UK you can't get anything like that on line due to the DPA, I  don't think it will ever be available to the general public.

  7. no such thing or everyone would do it

It costs $15 for the first one and $5 for the rest IF you order then all at the same time

otherwise , its $15 for each time you ask for another copy

  8. when you are researching, it is critical that you be accurate in what you are looking for.

A death RECORD and death CERTIFICATE are two different things. Death records include anything that can be used as a document to confirm a death.. a will, tombstone/ cemetery record, obituary, so forth. WHERE those can be found, is completely dependent on the person and the time frame/ locality.  You can look up deaths in the social security death index (for the US), which includes deaths since about 1960ish.  This is an index only.. but it can suffice as a "record".

Death certificates are official documents held by the state or other legal authority.  In general, "recent" ones (less than 50-75 yrs) are not open to the public, but can be ordered by qualified family members only.  The reason for this is id theft, and misuse.

If you are thinking of simply getting "anyone's" death certificate from a web site.. sorry, that is not available.
