How do i get a free fishing rod from the fishing tutor in runescape?

i need to get a free one and i heard i could get one from the tutor. im level 25 fishing if that counts

The fishing rod is an item used to catch fish through the Fishing skill. It can be bought from the fishing store in Port Sarim or in Catherby for 5 coins.

You actually can't get fishing rods from the fishing tutor. The only thing he gives you is a small net or a crayfish cage (for starting quest). Sorry! =( Well, you can buy one from the fishing store in port sarim if that helps!!!
