  1. Tell them to do strange things and talk to their self and when people ask what is going on just keep babbling that the people in their head are telling them to do it.

This actually works... I know someone who did this.  LOL

  2. If he can not adapt to army life, they will send him or her home.

Tell him or her to view it as a game. Lots of threats are made by DI's that will never be carried out.The DI's are mostly kids in their 20's that were forced to grow real fast up by the wars but they are still human.

  3. It takes some people longer than others to adapt.  Besides, basic training isn't the army life.  It's training.  The real test will come during the six months after basic.  This is when it will be determined if your friend cannot adapt.

  4. Tell your friend to man up (or woman, whatever the case) They had to know what they were getting into when the signed up. It definitely wasn't daycare I'm sure. There are things in life we think we can't adapt to, but it's part of the learning process.

  5. You don't.  This is part of growing up; your friend has to learn to be responsible for his/her actions.  Your friend will have to serve their enlistment, then he/she can get out.

  6. Unless they have a mental illness, they are in it for the time they signed up for.

They need to grow up and the military will help them out with that.

  7. you don't.

  8. guy is just going to have to cowboy up. Or he could say he is g*y. Or get hurt.

  9. Sometimes people will be discharged for "Failure to Adapt to Military Life".I'm only a military spouse, so I'm not sure what all that involves. However, your friend should deal with his/her own problems. I am sure that basic training and tech school isn't a cake walk for anyone, but if someone signed to join the military, he/she needs to suck it up and honor their commitment.
