  1. Take hotel operations courses in your area. Housekeeping and waitstaff are going to be largely Eastern European staffed, you'd do better to aim for the pursers desk, cruise director, or something similar where there are more Brits, Aussies, etc.

Cruise ships are staffed by two separate crews, the ship side and the hospitality side. The hospitality side is no different than a hotel, except you'll work longer days, have fewer days off, and be subject to maritime caste society.

As an American citizen you'll still find it difficult to work for most lines as they are largely staffed by non-americans, and the pay and conditions are not what you'll be used to working on-shore here.

Not to say you can't do it, or wont enjoy it. Just saying it might not be what you expect.

  2. You need to contact the cruise lines directly. On their web sites you will find a link to jobs, employment, human resources or some such link that will give you information about their positions. Some sites even have current vacancies they are recruiting for. Several cruise lines have new ships coming out soon so opportunities will be there. Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, Disney and some others will have new ships launched in the next couple years.

Then there are more links that will let you see and download job requirements. Celebrity Cruise line is a RC affiliate and so you should be able to get similar information from them the same way. here's a link to their jobs page: http://www.celebritycruises.com/aboutcel...

    Here's Norwegian Cruise line: http://www.ncl.com/nclweb/cruiser/cmsPag...

Another thing to do is to contact the concession that run the shops on the ships like the souvenir, gift and clothing shops. Below are links for you.

  3. Think you have the skill and vision to be a part of our future? For opportunities in our Corporate Office or Shipboard opportunities, please select a department below.

Important Notice: Recently, we have been made aware of fraudulent advertisements that have appeared in the classified section of newspapers in certain markets around the country concerning cruise ship employment.Â

The advertisements, which are part of an employment scam, provide a fax number and e-mail address where applicants can send a resume to apply for a shipboard job position. Applicants are contacted via telephone, advised that they have been hired by Carnival Cruise Lines, and asked to wire money to cover the cost of a "uniform deposit," which is then pocketed by the perpetrators of the scam.

Please be advised that these fraudulent ads are in no way endorsed by or affiliated with Carnival Cruise Lines. We encourage interested persons to apply directly to Carnival Cruise Lines by following the instructions on this web-site for the specific position being offered.
