How do i get a sponsor to do a fashion show or donate money for school?

IM TRYING TO GO TO THE ART INSTITUTE OF MIAMI FOR FASHION DESIGN AND WANT TO HAVE A FASHION SHOW NOV 1ST 2008 AND WAS TRYING TO FIND A SPONSOR THT MIGHT WANT TO DONATE TO THE CAUSE OR EVEN HELP SPONSOR THE EVENT OF ME WITH SCHOOL.

First you should determine the benefits of such sponsorship to the company you are asking - will they get their logo on something, their name on a banner, or in a program?  

Once you have decided what you have to offer, you should look at local companies that would be most likely to be interested in sponsorship.  For a fashion show, perhaps that would be local boutiques, fabric shops, sewing machine companies (or the stores that sell them) for example.

Once you have a list of target sponsors, you can approach them with your proposal.  I recommend that you draft a letter describing what you want (sponsorship/money), why you need the sponsorship, what you can offer them (the benefits) and finally, how they can respond.  

In  about two weeks after you send or deliver the letter, follow up with another visit, or a phone call to see if they received your request, and if they are willing to help.  

The thing to remember is that you will be turned down more times than you are likely to be successful, so you should send out as many letters of inquiry as you can for a greater chance of success.
