  1. try putting food on your back porch  do this for a few nights then try to extend your hand to the cat so it can smell you while talking gently to it if its feral this may not work at all though. feral cats just dont like people

  2. What I did was I would put food out and the cat would be waiting for it.  Then when it didn't mind me at least getting close to it I would put the bowl down and not take my hand off it.  She would be hungry enough to eat and while she was doing this I started moving a finger and touching her.  She'd back off a bit but come back to the food and I would keep doing it till she didn't mind.  After that it wasn't too long before I could actually pat her.  This took about three weeks or so - I was persistent.  This cat actually became a lovely cat, very affectionate and loving so it was worth it.

  3. charvi is on the right track...we rescued hundreds of feral (wild) cats over the years and stinky food and talking to them definitely is the key

  4. What I did was put some food in front of it and get a little bit closer to it everyday. Although some cats may have had a hard life and have become very scared of humans. If it doesn't start trusting you in little than a week and a half, I would just give it food. Only time will tell if it starts to trust you.

    Hope this helps

  5. A very long time.... i have been feeding a stray outside for a year now... and up till about 2 months ago she would run everytime i opened the door... or even came near the door... i just got her so she will not run when i put food out.

just try to stick to the same routine and dont push him/her eventually he/she may come around.

the stray i feed had 4 kittens one of which found her way into a little fabric house i had outside.so she was easy to catch.. we adopted her.. unfortunatly i could not get the rest of them.. but i now feed the mama and her 3 other kittens.

good luck.. hopefully the stray will come around:)

  6. bend down and call him, when you do this animal feel you are his friend.  Also give the food, do not disturb him, if you put him in your lap pass your hand over.  With can is not like dog, you have to win their affection.

  7. Try feeding it first, then it will slowly feel that you are to be trusted.

  8. I've never purposely had anything to do with attracting a stray cat.

They merely selected me, and used guilt trips to get me on their staff. Provide some food and water, and the cat will decide if you can satisfy its demanding self-interests.

  9. give it food everyday

an try like tlk to it

dont really try walking up on it

  10. Get on your knees and put your hand out and let the cat smell it. Offer a treat. If your cat does not walk up to you then leave a treat at the porch for the cat then leave daily. After 3 days come yourself and kneel down with the treat in your hand.

  11. It takes a long while, but it can be done.  Strays have to rely on you to do the same thing every time, so you don't appear dangerous to them.

By working outside with the gardening got one used to me very well, though it took all summer.  I kept a food bowl and water bowl outside for the strays, so would do a special food call when I put something extra in it (when I saw he was in the area).  Then backed off to not interfer with his coming to get the food.

Eventually they trust you and come closer.  But it takes a long time, they've been trained by all sorts of dangers to stay away from humans.
