How do i get a title to a vacant or abandoned house? can i just take it over if the owner dont want it

  1. You need to find out who owns it, any real estate agent can help you with this.   Then you try to contact them and purchase it.


  2. Someone owns it.  Call the county or city tax assessor and find out who owns it, contact them and see if they want to sell.  

    You cannot just take it over.

  3. NO you can't just take it over, you have to find out who the owner is and see if he will sell it to you!

  4. There is an owner to the property, and you must contact that owner to see if there is interest in selling the property.  There is no method by which you can take over property which appears abandoned simply because you want to own it.

    If the owner does not desire to sell (for any reason), then you cannot obtain the property.

  5. You can check the tax record office in your county to see who owns it and then contact them about purchasing it.  You just cant take over property because you want it.

  6. Contact the county tax assessor's office and inquire about the property tax status. If the taxes are current, you have to contact the owner about purchasing it. If back property taxes are owed and the county has seized the house, you can pay the back taxes on it and it's yours.

    That's basically the strategy behind those Free and Clear programs, where you can pick up real estate for "pennies on the dollar." You're basically buying out the tax liens and acquiring the property from the county.

Go to the county court house and research ownership.It is possible that it has taxes owed on it, and you can arrange to pay the taxes, to get ownership. Cheap way top buy.Also, at times older people hold title to property, but don't have interest in it, such as homes acquired by the death of a relative, and the beneficiary lives in another state.At all costs, you must investigate, but check public records.Ask neighbors if they know who ownes, perhaps the owner can be located and will strike a deal.

  8. As long as someone is paying the taxes on the property you can't. Check with City Hall, or wherever you pay property taxes. If taxes are owing, eventually the property will come up for auction.
