How do i get access to my other computer from my computer?

both are on my home wireless network.

When i go on start>network, i click on the computer i want to access but it says PC-x*x is not accessible. you might not have permission to use this network resource. How do i get permission? i am network admin

  1. first of all u need to disable your WindowsXP default firewall. go to your computer control panel then open windows firewall then click off(not recommended) then u can access the another comptuer  


  2. You have to set up that computer for networking and file sharing. In Network Properties - select File and Print Sharing for Microsoft Networks. You can then access the files on the other computer over your local net. In some cases, you need to have the same account and password on both PC's.

    Remote Desktop is the other option. You can remote desktop to another computer if it has XP Pro or one of the fancier versions of Vista. In XP, you can only remote desktop if no one is logged on to the other computer.

  3. If in vista go to network and sharing center, and turn off password protected sharing. If XP, the 1st answer is good.
