  1. Clean it up, repaint it, and sell it on e-bay so you can get a new one.  You will never stop the corrosion once it starts.

  2. If the surface is not painted then use a metal polish such as Solvol Autosol (Halfords etc). It is brilliant for all metal surfaces. Solvol can be used on areas of broken paint as long as you don't get carried away!

If you wire brush the surface you will create scratches which will oxidise very quickly- causing more fur.

  3. I am assuming your frame has lacquer over polished aluminium, its not an easy one to remedy especially

if the corrosion has gone very deep. All i can suggest you try is,

get some 220 wet and dry rubbing down paper and try to keep this preparation to a confined area, perhaps masking of

around this area so as not to damage the good parts of the frame.Carefully rub the corroded area down until you have removed the dark pitted corrosion, now change to a much smoother grit paper like 1000 wet and dry.The object of the exercise now is to make a smooth finish and feather the lacquer out, at this point you may need to remove the masking but still being carefull not to damage any where else on the frame. After this preparation you will need  a fine compound like T cut, or even metal polish will do,polish this area until you have a nice smooth finish in the lacquer and the aluminium. Now you can re-coat the area with lacquer from an aerosol can first making sure you have masked off so not to get over spray everywhere. Now once the lacquer has dried polish with T cut or metal polish , hay presto like new!.

  4. I use a wire wheel, in a drill...
