Go to the passport office in Victoria. Take all the documents you need and get there early. Call them and make an appointment. I got mine on the morning i was due to fly once after having mine stolen the day before. Costs a bomb though, good luck

if you are in a forgien country you need to goto the police and ask where the british embassy is i think if ur in the uk i dont think its possible although u can pay 35.00 gbp to speed the process up

you dont say which country your in and which passport you require, but if UK, go to Post Office get the forms, get passport size photos taken.  Read the form carefully and make sure you complete it properly (which will minimise delay).  The post office will then apply for you which I believe takes two weeks.  If it is more urgent than that.  Again go to a local post office and let them check your form and photos, certificates etc (dont forget to bring the money with you) - this way you'll know if they are right - and then go to the passport office in person.  be prepared to wait several hours.
