How do i get another key made for my ford focus car?

Can i just take it to a key making shop or do i need to go to ford? I need a spare key due to locking my keys in the car yesterday and having to call the AA!

any key cutting place can make you a key but you will only be able to use it to unlock the doors since that key is a coded key

Most likely it's a coded key, meaning that it has a chip in it. You'll need to take it to the Ford Dealer, to the parts and service area. It'll take about ten minutes. They'll make a new key for your car. Ask them to test the key while you're there to make sure that the new key works. Sometimes if it's got the wrong chip in it, it'll shut down the car and it won't start. So always make sure that it works before you leave the dealership. Expect to pay between $15-30 for the key, depending on the dealership.

If you are uk based then any key cutters should be able to do car keys, It costs about £5....but if you have a chip in it which mine did it was £25 and took a week as they had to order one in.

because of scams and theft, the only way to get another one is to go to the ford manufacturer with ID and proof of car ownership, and get one off of them. It will cost quite a substancial amount but it is the only way

If you want a key just to unlock the car you can go and get one from walmart or the dealer can cut a door key that is less than a full coded key. If you want one that will start the car then you have to go to the dealer. .

Just take it to the car place. Assuming you don't have a key with a microchip in it. And don't go to walmart, they cant cut keys for a hoot.

if its just a key any auto parts store even walmart makes keys about 5 bucks... if it has a chip  you have to go to dealer
