I have a been a stay at home mom for 18 years. I have four kids. I am now ready to go back to work. I have 2 years previous bank teller experience and 2 years secretarial experience. I have applied online with a resume and cover letter to several different banks including one inparticular and I either don't get any response or the one particular bank that I want to work for emails me that they have other applicants with more banking experience. The only experience that I don't have that I didn't need when I was a teller was sales experience. But I know that I can handle that aspect of the job. What do I have to do for them to give me a chance?

  1. Go to a temp agency and tell them you want a temp to permanent position. They'll test your skills and send you out to companies in your area. If you need to brush up on your computer skills, some have classes to get you going. The great thing about temp agencies is you get to network, and find out what companies you do or do not want work for!

    Good luck!

  2. I am a new mum and have to go back after just one year away and I am finding it hard.

I think you need to take one step down the career ladder - sadly that's the price we have to pay for being mothers - then once you are on the path again you can get up to date and then progress your career!

    good luck
