How do i get better at gymnastics ?

hi,

i have been doing gymnastics for 1yr now but i still cant do mutch.

i can do a backwards walkover and a handspring but i cant touch my toes or do the spilts.

i love gymnastics and i want to get realy good but i seem not to be ably to get anywhere.

what makes it worse is that my best friend is amazing at gymnastics and she can do backflips tuck backs ect and she is always going abrord to do gymnastics contest. i have asked her to help but she has no time as she is always training. What should i do?

  1. Racer is right-practice 'til it hurts-then practice some more. If you can't touch your toes, you might want to start with work on your agility.


  2. Practice Practice Practice !!!!  There is no magic key other than throwing yourself into your craft...and practicing your brains out !!!

  3. Train as she does! If it's about touching your toes or doing the splits, do stretches. For splits, get in the splits position and go down until it hurts. Then, hold that for 10 seconds (or longer if you wish). I did that a couple times a day for a couple weeks and I have mine! Your friend may be amazing at gymnastics, but she, most likely, has been there longer than you. Practice until you can't practice anymore. I taught myself to do a lot of my tumbling, and it's because I watch videos, other people, and I teach myself. If you feel that's not safe to do (although it helps), take gymnastics classes. I'm sure that they can have you in one-on-one classes if you don't want to be in a full group. As said before, PRACTICE!
