  5. Depends which game you play....Rugby Union or Rugby League.

Rugby League is alot more physical.

So, to get on the right track you need to go out & run 3 times a week, do weight-training, improve your diet, and do plenty of press-ups & Sit-ups.

  6. practice

  7. practice running..and one thing in rugby..NATURAL AGRESSION!! just think of something that makes you really angry..and then play the game. helps me a lot!!

learn good tactics like passing the ball..that's important! and! you gotta LOVE the game to be good in it!

  8. Practice,practice and practice.Same as any sport.

  9. You need odd shaped balls.

  10. Practice, practice, practice

  11. For the short term, Increase your mental knowledge. Study, watch, and play high level rugby. Increase your rugby IQ. The more you now the better you become faster.

For the long term, increase you physical power, strength and endurance. The results of these actions will take a long time to appear. At extremely high levels of rugby, everyone is fit and the mental side is the deciding factor. I would heavily emphasize the mental part.

  12. It depends on what you're good at already, and what your weaknesses are. The things you enjoy about a sport are usually your strongest skills, so to improve you usually need to put work into the parts of the game you don't like.

As well as the obvious things you can improve, such as handling skills, physical attributes (strength, agility, speed & stamina), and communication, you can always improve your game by studying tactics and strategy.

It is easy when watching a game, to spot moments when the wrong strategy was applied; it is often what commentators are paid to do, and spectators enjoy doing it too. As a player, the judgement is not so clear-cut. There are always a range of different options, and you can learn to consider more of these by watching matches with this in mind.

A successful move (one which gains ground or scores a try) is not always the right one. Several short, consistent gains can often put your side into a better position than one exhausting push. Many matches have been lost because the first half was won; this can make your team complacent (and tired) while also setting a challenge for your opponents.

The more tactical and strategic understanding you have, the better you will be at making split-second judgements on the field.
