  1. I just started Volleyball too!

    And what my coach says is that when you are practicing, do it to yourself, and sit up and down while doing it. It works really great.

  2. practice setting different heights. also practice different lengths by trying to set the ball into an empty trashcan. this will improve your accuracy.

    remember the foot work. stop with your knees bent and your right foot in front of your left, then push up with your legs, b/c unless your arms are huuuuge/muscluar your power should come from your legs.

    hope this helps.

  3. lots and lots of practice! just take a ball and do baby sets against the wall. then c if you can do it without making the ball spin. c if you can look at a panel the whole time. then take a step back and set again to the wall.  take a few more steps back and set to the wall again. and when you set to the wall, once it comes back, set it to the wall again. do it for like, a minute before you take a step back. you can also set to yourself. do babysets to yourself. then do high sets to yourself. then practice doing baby set, hh set. or low, medium high, low medium high. another thing you can do by yourself to practice control, is doing baby sets to yourself, then slowly sit down, while still setting. then slowly stand up while still setting. if you can do that, then lay all the way down, do 5 crunches, and stand back up, while setting the ball. or if you have a partner you can set wiht, set back anf forth. once you get 20 good sets, try setting it once to yourself, then again to your partner. once you get 20 of those, you can set a high one to yourself, do a 180 spin, and a back set to your partner. and to strengthen your finger tips, you can get in a plank (push up position), but on your finger tip. once you can do that for a while, try doing push ups on your finger tips. hope this helped!

  4. set to yourself 1'sthen 2's and get a setters ball to help with yourarm strength setting to yourself will eventually get you to be the best setter you can be

  5. ima setter too.  i would recommend just sitting and setting to a wall, high, low, shoots, all of them.  when it comes back keep setting back.  hope that helps.  o, and work on strengthening your fingers mostly.

  6. weighted setter balls are good

    make sure your hands are the shape of the ball and extend your arms out after u set

    try not to poke the ball with your thumb(keep it back)

    kind of make a triangle shape with your hands

    u don't really use your 4th finger or pinky too much

    just keep practicing and you'll get it

  7. Work on your fingers, AND wrists.

    1> Push up with fingers (instead of flat palms), till your tired;

    2> "Grab Air" for 100 times when you have nothing else to do :)

    3> Hold two glass bottles in each hand and move them in circular motion parallel to the floor, 50 times or till you drop a bottle;

    Loose up your wrists after each group of practice.

    You can also purchase a setter's practice ball and set it into the air, make sure you warm up before working on setter's ball, it could hurt you!!

    More importantly, play more real games. Go to open gym and play real games while trying to be the setter as much as possible.

    Hope this helps. Have fun playing volleyball.

  8. You could lay down on the ground and have somebody drop the ball at your head. Once you set it right several times, you should be able to do it standing up. That's what my coach has us do and it wprked on me.
