How do i get blackberry messenger to work?

I have no idea how to use this stupid application. I put in my friends blackberry PIN to invite her as my friend, but its been under the "pending" friends list for about a week now. She never received a message saying I invited her, and sam with her phone.

Hey, since you don't have any idea how to use the stupid application- why don't you give me. I've wanted a blackberry for so long; if you gave me and i had that problem with it i'd read the manual that came with it or carry it to a phone specialist. hey you have a blackberry A BLACKBERRY. Do you have a BlackBerry data plan on your account? Does your friend have a BlackBerry data plan? If you don't have a BlackBerry data plan on your account then it won't work. Or if you have one, and your friend doesn't (or vice versa) then it won't work.
