How do i get energy from a Citrus fruit?

my classmates wonder how to get energy from citrus fruits because we wanna prove that we can use citrus peelings or gatorade to charge an Ipods using a USB cable... so far we used orange, melon and lemon peelings and we placed all of them in a plastic cup and pour gatorade in each plastic cup.

1 plastic cup contains lemon juice and combination of Gatorade. we have a plastic container that contains an onion with gatorade. we took a litmus paper and checked the acidic number so far our strongest acidic number 2 it was the lemon juice with gatorade we waited for 30 mins. for the peelings to absorb the gatorade. and it didnt work we didn't get any results did we do something wrong?

O.K. If this is a grade school project, then I hope I don't get you in trouble with my post. Be careful with ANY experiment. This is a great idea you are undertaking! More minds are needed to come up with a viable alternative to energy production. This won't charge your iPod, but can get you to THINK! I once (actually a lot of times) took the peeling from an orange and igniting a lighter, bend the peel (outside of orange facing the flame) between your fingers & squeeze quickly. The juice from the rind will IGNITE! Now you can't tell me that Dr. Emmit Brown in "Back to the Future" wasn't on to something big!! Now, it's up to you and your class to find how to harness, process and use that energy release!

You have to use two different metals and stick it in an orange or a potato.  The acid and the dissimilar metals are what causes an electric current to flow.

I wouldn't use this to charge your iPod.

Grace, fruits bare natural sugar alone. an apple and or an orange will tork you up.
