  1. I would fly,the bus and driving take way too long

  2. You need to go to San Vito then to San Isidro del General and then to San José.

You can take a bus or drive, I recommend driving a 4x 4.

  3. You can take the bus or a plane.

The bus will take you from Bocas to David (big city on the pacific side). Then you take a bus to San Jose. Along the way you will have to all the border stuff. Then from there you can take another bus to Manuel Antonio. All the bus fees will most likely add up to $30. It is a great way to be with the locals, but you will get sick of it fast. They love loud music and they cram as many people into one bus as possible.

By Plane... you fly from Bocus to David. Then from David to San Jose. then a bus to Manuel Antonio. I don't believe there is an air port near Manual Antonio. You could also rent a car in San Jose. One plane rid will cost you about $70.

Another way to go is hitchhiking. It is much more friendlier and safer then in the states. Everyone does it here.

  4. Yahoo Maps says it can't work out a driving route for these two locations and it does look like there are no roads connecting the two.  The fast option appears to be by plane, expensive and more so if it is a private charter.  A straight but slow route will be on mule and the final option would be the long way by sea and the Panama Canal.  Good luck and keep a diary and take lots of pictures because this looks like one beaut of a trip.

  5. Using public transportation the fastest way would be to go through San Jose.  Take the ferry to Changuinola from Isla Colon (Bocas town), there is a direct bus to San Jose (about 6-7 hours) and then take the bus from San Jose to Manuel Antonio (4-5 hours).  That is probably the quickest way to drive too.  If you were driving to Dominical or points South you would stay in Panama and go through David to Costa Rica.

There is also a flight four days a week that leaves bocas at 12:30 and goes to Quepos (Manuel Antonio with a stop in San Jose).   It is on Nature Air.

  6. You can always get a lift from Superman or you can consult your travel agent to see which way is the fastest way possible.

  7. because bocos del toro and costa rica are nearby, you have a wide assortment of options available.

    you can take a bus.

    you can take a cab.

    you can fly on over.

either way yo decided to go, good luck and have a safe trip to costa rica.
