  3. First of all, you may want to get a book on shooting pool.  They should give you great ideas on difficult shots and how to get out of tough situations.  You need to practice your angle shots. When you play against a more experienced player, most of the time you shots will be angle shots using the side bumpers.  The object of the game is to make sure your shots go in. If you happen to miss, you need to make sure that your oppenent has no possible shot or a very difficult shot.  Studying and practicing will give you a great chance of becoming a good player.

  4. Like everyone else said, practice. Pool is mostly about geometry, but that does no good if you can't control the cue ball. Make sure your stance is good along with your bridge. You want to keep your shooting arm pretty much parallel with the stick and shoot using your elbow. If you have your own cue (stick) practice shooting the tip into a 20 oz. bottle. That will teach you aim. I used to picture a line coming from the pocket straight through the object ball, then I would try to hit the object right where the line comes out. This is very effective. Of course you could always go to a good poolhall. Most of the better players shouldn't have any problems giving you tips. I almost forgot. Play 9 ball. It's a little harder than 8 you have to go in numerical order, which will teach you banks and how to leave yourself with a shot.

  5. Take your time, figure out the angles and above all " see the shot"

work on cutting the ball at the pockets first and if you do not get them in at least leave them close for your next shot....

  6. practise.... try making the hard shots when you have nothing else, work on 'cuts' rather than 'banks' since all tables are different

  7. Go to a club on your own. Practice on your own. Make sure your swing is straight and true. Practice potting straight in then, increase the angles, all the way to difficult cuts. Learn how to play snookers and playing safe. If your opponent has no shot you get more table time. Then learn bank shots.  Then practice with guys better than you. You will take some beatings but ask what they are doing, learn it and do it. It takes time but you will get a lot better quick....
