How do i get internet on my laptop?

Question

Well I just bought a laptop for school and I can't set up the internet!! :(

We used to have a desktop computer and it no longer works but we still have the modem. I called my internet service provider yesterday and they got me the internet service but they're saying I need another computer to send signal to my laptop. I DONT GET IT! ?

Am I really gonna need another desktop and set it up that way or a wireless router to pick up the signal from the modem or what?

u have to buy this thingy mo jobber that connects to the computer u can get it at lamost any store i think lol

your laptop may have a built in modem,and should be able to connect to a phone line,or you could join 3G,Mobile broard band @ £10.0 per month, but the £15.00 deal is the best,check out their web site

Most laptops have a modem connector in the back, but a wireless router gives you a lot of mobility with your laptop so you can use the internet in different rooms.

Today's laptop usually already have their built in modem. If the connection to the Internet is via the telephone line, try to look at the back of the laptop whether or not there is a telephone hole.

If it was an adsl line then maybe your previous modem is an adsl modem, then connect it to your laptop.
