  1. Buy health Insurance first :D

broken wrists are common for newbies...

  2. lesons!

    they help sooo much

    good luck!

  3. Start visiting your local shops.  Ask questions.  Do online research on products....

Look for smaller shops that carry off brands like Capita and Stepchild.  If you start hitting shops like Chicks and Sports Authority you'll run into sales people that are tools without a clue.  Get into smaller more core shops and ask questions.

Just get out there and start riding

  4. Absolutely, get yourself to the nearest burton snowboarding school, the lesson is 1 and 1/2 hours, and by the end of it, you should be able to carve pretty good...green hills will be no problem, and blue hills you will be able to handle 75% of the time...

  5. for a beginner lesson all you need to look prepared is a winter jacket, snowpants, a layering system under your clothes that is appropriate for the weather and you can find out that information on a basic outdoor apparel website.  You need warm ski or snowboard socks, goggles.  Hat, neck gaiter, rent a helmet at the mountain but buy one later, they are a great confidence builder when learning.  Other then proper clothing the best thing you can have is a good attitude, the first few times snowboarding involves a lot of falling.  But once you figure out how to move on the board, its a lot of fun.
