How do i get manufacturers for my brand?

Question

I have a logo and name for a clothing brand i want to start. I know it's not easy but this is something i really want to do.

Now that i have a logo and name, i will register a trademark, but how do i get these shirts into stores so people can buy? also, how do i get tags on my shirt instead of buying shirts and printing the logo onto it?

Lastly, how do i get manufacturers to make the clothes for me? Any tips? thanks

Well to get your shirts in the store it takes some foot work. As for having someone make the shirts for you. The best option in the begining is to get a screen printer, like www.easyshirts.com or something like that who prints and sell shirts. When your company starts booming, then you can look into someone over seas to mass produce your line. But in a start up the best thing to do is buy American Apparel shirts (or something like it) and have someone print your logos on them. I have a couple friends who have done this, it's worked well for them.

By going out and selling them, duh.

Do you have any designs? Do you even know how to silk screen?

It's too early to solve these logistical problems now. You need to focus on getting a core of good designs and develop interest in your products. Manufacturing comes with a lot of overhead. You need to be certain that there is a demand for your products that is sustainable and growing. If you were to come to me and ask for money I would not care about your logo or name. I would want to see hard proof that this clothing is on peoples backs and that they want more of it. Work on your designs, learn to silk screen and go sell your product. You are putting the cart in front of the horse worrying about finding manufacturers before you actually have any demand for your product.
