  1. If you are doing it right which is to pick the front of the bike up first.  If you know that you are doing it right maybe its just the bike

  2. To be honest mate, there is no right way to do a bunny hop. everyone has their own way of doing it and it just takes practice.

if you can already do a small bunny hop then you are obviously doing it right. when i first started riding bmx (9 years ago) i thought id never be able to get any higher but i kept practicing, try hopping onto curbs, try hopping over different objects or hopping on to small walls.

    you will eventually get it!

  3. pull your bars up into your chest more and try and slighty tuck your body up

  4. Push down first to compress and rebound on your suspension and tyres

This may be of help, respect for managing to bunny hop anyway!

  6. It is a little difficult to explain typing out the answer but let me give it a shot.

To bunny hop you need to master manuals very well, you should have no problem doing a high manual for a few feet. Once you are totally used to having your front wheel in the air I would suggest hitting a pump track and progress to small dirt jumps (table tops). Pump track will teach you to pump the bike right before the table top to get more height in your jump. Imagine you were to throw a tennis ball at a table top, there is a spot where if the ball lands there it will shoot upwards, very high - that is the spot you want to pump on your bike. Simple physics to get the height.

Once you are used to getting the height on table tops, clearing the transition completely, you will know how to handle the bike well in the air.

Next you just manual and at the right time push the handlebars away from you (like a regular bunny hop) and grab your pedals by pointing toes down and heels up. After practicing on tabletops you'll be used to that motion and it will become effortless.
