  1. Look into using capacitors. Be very careful with them tho and do your homework. They hold alot of juice (more than a battery).

  2. make sure you have the proper size wire, here is a chart to help http://www.crutchfieldadvisor.com/S-Py4g...

and if needed (if that's 1000watts RMS not peak/max) a high output alternator (if your lights dim while sitting still)

you may also want to upgrade all of the wires in your charging system and make sure you have a good ground

check to see if the subs and amp are properly matched (RMS wattage not peak/max and you impedance (ohms) at the amp depending on your wiring)

messing with your gain is not for power is to match the signal coming from the radio to the amp

it optimizes the amp's output with the receiver's volume so that when you turn up the volume at the radio the subs will not be playing distorted

  3. you could try tunning your amp to a higher setting. This involves turning up the "gain" lever just little by little perferibly while the radio is on, thus proving the sound while your tuning so you dont accidently overpower and blow your subs. Goodluck!!

  4. If you don't already invest in a really good set of wires.  Low gauge wires for battery , ground, speakers in a good brand like MONSTER.  They'll help a lot if upgrading from regular ones.  But, again Sony car stereo equip isn't the best in the industry.
