I am a student and choreographer for our University musical production 2009 and the time has come for myself and the director to choose which musical we would like to do.

Obviously this needs to be a production that we can buy the rights to for 2008/2009.. does anybody know of any websites or contacts?

We have already looked at the Joseph Weinberger website (this is who we used last year) but the available rights are very limited and we can't find anything we're overly thrilled about.

  1. Have a look here: http://www.musictheatreinternational.com...

  2. Many houses that have the rights to plays like Tams-Witmark or Smuel French, have offices in London.  They are better equipped to know the value of your property and evaluate that against the number of seats in your auditorium, the amount you charge, the number of performance dates, etc., and come up with a reasonable rate for royalties.

  3. Contact the theatres/opera houses/play houses/ other universties/colleges/ tv studios and ask them who they use.  You need to network.  The more people you know the easier it is to get what you need.
