i had a cockatiel that fell in love with me the first night. she flew away a month ago and ive been devastated. so i got a new one a few weeks ago she wont let you pet her but she started coming out of her cage and going straight to her jungle gym. then she started going to the kitchen.so i got another cockatiel that hed been kept in the pet store b/c she was too young to come home.so when she came three days ago all progress with my old cockatiel was gone they connected and neither of them will come out of their cage unless i force them and when my new one comes out shell let me pet her but my old bird will call for her and shell fly to her cage my old bird is fine when i force her out but she still wont let me pet her. i really want to connect with them. i cant put them in seperate cages. they are both tamed and babys i think theyre 2 months 3 months.... help

  1. Big mistake you should of got only one. Work on one & they'll stay with you by handfeeding it only. By getting two you've two, they look towards each other for comfort. Not you. One will cling to the owner if you get two the two will be a couple. Bribe with food hand feed only both of them if not let them go. They have their own mind.

  2. FLY AWAY LITTLE BIRDIES FLY AWAY!!! by the the way if the last one ran away he probably didn't like you very much either. Maybe it was just the fact that HE WAS YOUR PRISONER!!!!

  3. Feed them.. Bribe them with food

  4. 2 cockatiels kept together will like each other more than they will ever like you. If you want them to like (bond to) you, then separate them, and try some back-to-basics scratching, cuddling, direct talking exercises for at least an hour each day. Hopefully you should note a difference within a few weeks, and eventually they will turn fully tame. But I strongly recommend that you only keep one bird if you want it to bond to you, as trying to tame two cockatiels is going to be a daunting task. With some exceptions, most parrots make far better pets when kept singly. And keep doing your research; even if it's a simple Google search, the point is to DO it. Your birds are young, so there's a good chance that your effort will pay off quite soon.

  5. Try feeding them foods that they would find in their natural habitat and hand feed them as a treat so that they will grow more fond of you. Instead of making them leave the cage just leave the cage door open sometime and have them leave of their own accord. How old was the bird that had flown away?

  6. set them free!!!!
