  1. The best way to is to create a reward system with your childs favorite candy such as M&Ms or skittles and do this for 7 days. Also, have a large prize for the 7th day. See: http://www.ehow.com/how_4497167_potty-tr... for more details.

  2. A friend gave me this suggestion which is just a part of the whole training thing.

Have "Underwear Afternoons".  In the afternoon (after nap), your child can wear Big Boy underwear (get SpiderMan or Sponge Bob or something your kid likes).  He wears the underwear, and yes they will get wet.  You might have to do 3 changes, but he'll soon learn when the 'pee-pees' are coming and to go to the potty.

During Underwear Afternoons, you'll want to keep your child off of the furniture and carpeted areas, just in case!  :)

  3. go to the library and get him  books you can read about it-like "once upon a potty" and sesame street's groover "i have to go!"  then take him straight from the bed after nap and first thing in the morning. don't let him lie around awake playing -make sure you take him asap and you will have sucess!

  4. what i done for my children was to buy some stickers, my son liked thomas the tank, and my daughter liked clowns, i got loads of stickers and let them cover there potty with them, if like my kids they started to use the potty after that . i think your should try your child now it can be hard work but patience does help....good luck

  5. Just have him sit on the potty seat a few key times a day (first thing in the am, right after meals, before bed).  If nothing happens, then don't make a big deal.  When something happens, reward with a sticker.  Ask him if he needs to use the potty, but be careful not to be too insistent.  That could cause him to put if off for a long time.

  6. Your 2 yr old may not be ready yet. Just because they turn 2 does not mean that they are ready to potty train. Kids develop differently at different ages. Girls usually potty train earlier than boys. Some signs that he or she is ready is

~diaper is dry all nite long

~they ask to use the potty

~they hold themselves when they have to go potty

~they tell you that they have to pee or p**p and then do it in their diaper

When he or she is showing signs, put them in regular underwear because a pull up can be confusing. It looks like a diaper and feels like a diaper.....and they really can't feel when they go potty in their pants verses regular underwear has NO absorbancy and they will feel when they have peed or pooped. It is messier but the child gets the point quicker.

My daughter started potty training around 2 1/2 yrs of age and was completely potty trained (using the potty at nitetime too) around 3 1/2 yrs old. However, my son did not start potty training until 3 1/2 yrs old and was not completely potty trained until he was 4 yrs and 9 months old.

  7. First off all can he pull his pants up and down? If not then you start there. Do NOT dress him in cloths he can not remove himself. Second, can he remove his pull up/diaper on his own? If not then there is your second step. Is he showing any interest at all? If not then wait two weeks and try again, if so then let him pick his potty. Set him on the potty every 1 1/2 hours, or else he will pee in his diaper/pull up. then go from there. These are the steps I have taken to potty train several 2 and three year olds. Keep in mind that it has as much to do with maturity, as it does physical ability. master those pants first though, and take your time!!

PS if he is in daycare, it often helps them to learn, because they see all the other children doing it, and heaven knows we must do whatever it is our peers are doing! And that choochoo stamp is to die for, lol

  8. Well boys take longer than girls. My daughter isn't potty trained and she is 2 years old and 7 months and isn't going at all I try at least every two weeks. I will put more effort into it when she is three.

    just some advice.

  9. like everyday try to make him sit down like my brother we did the same thing when he finally did we acted  very happy so he thinks its something special now he is normal

  10. You may need a trial run to see if he is ready, if he isn't ready you will just be wasting your time and causing both of you a lot of frustration.  We tried to potty train my daughter at 2 and a 1/2 but she had 4 or 5 accidents an hour and determined that she needed more time. At 3 we tried underwear at home, pull ups while out and making a huge excited fuss for successes on the toilet/potty. It took her awhile, but she has gotten the hang of it now. Good luck!
