I Have an HP Laptop. When you get it it comes with a WLAN called HP Wireless Assistant. Im dual booting Linux and Vista but with Linux it cant detect a Connection. Ive tryed to get that Network Manager but when i go to the parent directory they have a bunch of files and i dont know which one to download and i dont know how to convert rar and iso files. Could I get my HP Wireless Assistant to work with Linux? if not than how would ibe able to Wirelessly get Internet on Linux?

  1. Well the default for windows is Windows Zero, and so you won't be able to use that with linux. If the Wireless Assistant doesn't work with vista, considering buying a new wireless reciever that will.

  2. What Linux distribution are you using? With Ubuntu you click on the Network Manager icon What parent directory are you referring to? Is it on your pc or on an ftp site? Questions like this would be easier to handle on a forum or a newsgroup.

  3. You don't need a wireless assistant, but you do need a Linux driver for the wireless adapter - and you're probably not going to find one.  So set up ndiswrapper (http://sourceforge.net/projects/ndiswrap... ) and use the Windows driver (which you can download from HP's site).
