Question:

How do i get my bird to feel comfortable coming out of his cage???

I have a indian ringneck parakeet. It takes a minute but he will come out of his cage. When i get him out i am really not sure what to do to entertain him without scaring him. What do i do? I have tried feeding him fruits and other stuff but he just dont seem to be having fun. I think that is y i have trouble getting him out. please help

  1. This will take time.  He needs to bond with you.  Bonding occurs much more readily if you get the bird at a younger age, but this doesn't mean that it has to be this way.  Gradually build up trust by socializing and feeding him, but don't push it.  LOL, it's sort of like having a girlfriend ... don't try to go to fast.  Birds are social, but that relationship has to be built gradually.  You could also give him some toys.  A few good examples are standard perches, little gyms containing fun things to play on, and small swings.  Good luck.


  2. it takes a while for a bird to get used to being in a certain environment. whatever you do, dont rush him.let him do it on  his own terms. find some toy he is interested in. put it on his cage or hold it and let him play with it. talk to him .let him know you are there for him.

  3. Well when you try to bring him out make sure you are not holding a dead chicken in your hand like last time.
