How do i get my boyfriend to propose?

My boyfriend and i are getting married. We decided we are not having a big wedding this year, just a small private ceremony and next year we will have an anniversary party. Food, DJ, drinks, the whole nine yards. I picked out my ring, now all he has to do is go to the jewerly store and buy it. I really want an actual proposal. How can i get him to buy the ring and surprise me without actually telling him to do so?

you can't.  believe me...i know this from experience.  my hubby and i were together for over 5 years by the time he proposed.  we knew we were getting married.  it was just a matter of time.  and ummm...why did you pick out your ring?  if you want it to be a surprise, the ring should be as well.  the engagement ring is a symbol of his love for you...not your love for yourself.

Speak to a close mutual friend that you can confide in to speak to him. Or you can even kind of surprise HIM and give him a proposal and get him a small simple ring and maybe then he'd get the point that you want one also =)

Seriously maybe he wants to surpise you but you are looking so hard that he can't!  I too picked out my own ring but then 5 months later he proposed lol.  It was a suprise.  I wanted a suprise and he wanted to suprise me too!  Be patient and quit looking for it.

I do have to agree with the first person though.  Tell a good friend of his/yours that you are hoping he will ask you and suprise you but you hope it is soon lol.  Maybe that will help the way.

You don't. Why force the issue? He'll do it when he's ready. Besides, if you "get him to buy you the ring" how could he possibly surprise you!? Relax and wait with joyful anticaption for the moment!

I was such a clod....I proposed to my wife in my mother's kitchen. Luckily, she didn't answer me until about a week later at the beach. She wrote "Yes" on the sand.

Let him do his thing for godsake. You have dragged hom everywhere else alread and you cannot force him to suprise you. The element of surprise is LONG GONE when you went and picked your own thing.

What else are you doing to do, hand him a script and make reservations on yoru favorite restaurant?

Just tell him. Tell him that you're only going to get married once (hopefully) and that he has to do it right or else you'll say no. Make him sweat a little bit about it.
