  1. my cat learned her name because i talk to her and i say her name....like if gets a treat i say"Charsi wants a treat" when i pet her and she's purring i say"good Charsi"  "charsi's such a pretty girl"......ect, so basically just try saying her name quite often. but try not to say negative things with their name, like if their doing something bad don't say "NO X" you know what i mean?

  2. all you have to do is keep calling your cat by his/her name and eventually the cat will respond to his/her name. but don't expect your cat to come running to you when you call him/her. my cat meows or turns her head when i call her.

  3. We taught our cat his name by.. getting him in our lap and just kept saying his name to him over, and over, and over. After about 15 times of hearing his name he learned. Now he even comes when he hears it! Good Luck!

  4. i don't think my cat learned it's name but if you keep calling it by it's name it might learn it. whenever i say my cat's name she turns her head towards me.

  5. i hope his name is simple we have smudge, sarafina (fina or princess) and bagheera (bags or baggy) we used to use treats until they learnt their names and then gradually reduced treats until they were no onger needed. also when you feed him call him by his name and everytime you need a response call his name he will eventually learn it.

  6. Cats are nothing like dogs, they only listen when they want,so probably never. My cat is deaf and i have to hit the floor to get her attention. And sometimes with hand signals she comes to me,if she feels like it.

  7. I'm not really sure that cats really learn their names, but when I say my cats name (ChiChi) he responds, but if I say Cheech he doesn't even look up. Cats are so stubborn that they will only listen when they want to. My boyfriends cats (Boots) will come to any nick name we call him..so I think it's more the tone we use then the name. Just try to call his name over and over again in the same tone and eventually he will realize you're talking to him!

  8. Say the cats name every time you talk to it.  I have a cat who is 17 years old and sometimes I think she knows her name and other times I think she just knows my voice and comes when I call.

  9. It's easier to teach any animal their name when they are still babies.  Just keep saying their name over and over for different things.  For example:  "Good boy Oliver!"  "Oliver's a pretty kitty"  "Mommy loves you Oliver"  And so on.

  10. Just repeat your cat's name when you pay attention to it.  I have 4 cats and they all seem to know their own names.  They know other words such as eat.  I say that when I am going to feed them and they all run to the kitchen and start crying.  I think to them it is a certain sound that they pick up on and remember it for certain things. I've heard singing your cats name to them is supposed to work really well in having them learn it.  You really don't have to try too hard, I know I didn't even think about it and my cats have picked it up.
