  1. I'mm so sorry but you have no chance to get the mane back in 2 weeks...i have a horse who has severe sweet itch and his mane hastakenn 3 years to grow...and it is still no where near full length

I use cornucrescine and it does help hair grow back but its very sticky and it gets everywhere

could you try some fake mane?

    good luck for the show!

  2. you cant :) but try looking on the internet for fake horse hair :) dont worry he may not win anything at the show but there will be more also check with the judges if your aloud fake hair becoz if its against the rules u will get into trouble

  3. im sorry to say but there is nooooo wayy eatheir you are going to have to buy fake mane or do this.

  4. your not going to want to hear this but you cant

a horses mane grown 1/2 a centimetre in a month

would you consider having him hogged ?

  5. Two weeks, no chance, but heres some stuff that might help with the sweat itch. Castor oil will help hair growth,

Benzyl Benzoate was originally used to treat scabies in humans and has been used for many years to combat Sweet

Itch. It is a milky-white liquid which should be thoroughly massaged into the skin daily, however it must not be used

on the horse if there is hair loss and the skin is broken. It can be obtained in large quantities from any good

    pharmacist.

Be careful not to apply any irritant onto broken skin; if this is the case then soothing and healing agents need to be

applied. Sudocreme, Calamine Lotion and Zinc and Castor Oil can bring relief but will not deter further attacks.

Coat the animals coat with baby oil, midges dislike contact with skin that is covered in a film. Remember that to be

effective they need to be applied two or three times a day as in summer when a horses coat is short it does not retain any

ingredient for very long and can be lost through rain or sweating.

The use of other insecticides including permethrin and related compounds tend to be longer lasting, but should be

used with care. Permethrin is available by veterinary prescription.

Preparations containing tea tree oil, lavender oil, or chemical repellents that can cause an allergic skin reaction should

be patch tested first on the neck or flank of the horse first. Look out for any sign of swelling or heat over a 24 hour

period before using extensively. If you have a shot, its not letting it get ANY worse, and waiting for natural growth that wont look too messy. Good Luck!

  6. Just wait. If it isn't good in time, you can buy some fake stuff. Can't find some for horses? Use human fake hair or wigs... If it is short and you really have no time to get fake hair, make it nice. Wash it. The day before, braid it to make it wavy. Add a ribbon and plait it along. Or... Make bun-braids!

    I really hope this helps!!!

  7. see how long it grows too naturally, then the day before either trim the rest of the mane so it is in line or have it hogged (cut it all off completly)

  8. My Mare Has Sweet itch And Rubs Her Mane Its Horrible :(

I Know Your Treating The Sweet Itch But You Should Try Carr & Day & Martins Kill Itch. Its Really Good. Its Cleared Up All Of My Mares Sores.

Also You Could Try Adding Linseed Oil To His Feed. Its Amazing Stuff :)

It Will Help Grow Back His Mane And Tail If He Has Rubbed It And Will Add A Really Nice Shine To His Skin And Coat :)

  9. Because your show is in two weeks there is no chance the mane will grow back in time no matter what you put on it. If it is a cob why don't you hog it for the show if the hair is too short to plait? Hogging can really accentuate the top line of a cob and a lot of judges prefer cobs to be hogged.

Don't worry either way it will all grow back in a few months but maybe you should buy a fly sheet that covers his neck for next year just in case.

    Good luck with your show.

  10. There is no way to grow the hair in time for a show. You cuold attempt to buy fake hair, but it is hard to attatck to a mane (tails are much easier.)

It may take months to grow the stubble out. One thing that works to stimulate hair growth is M-T-G (you can get it at www.Statelinetack.com, www.Horse.com, www.Doversaddlery.com) It smells gross  (like BBQ sauce), but my pony started to grow hair in 2 days when she rubbed her tail raw.

  11. cobs are traditionally hogged, so why dont you hog it for the show then grow it back? this would be best as the rubbed section will be slightly different to the long mane, and so if you hog it, you can start the mane from scratch. good luck at your show!

  12. You can't. You can roach or hog the mane. Or you can try to make what you have as neat as possible.

Those are really your choices - sorry - none of them are good.

  13. Take very good care of his mane, keeping it healthy and in good condition will help it to grow twice as fast (:

  14. Hi!

No way can you get a good regrowth in 2 weeks. But start feeding Biotin and it will grow quicker.

I wouldn't hog the rest. If the hole is not so big you could sew some of the tail hair in as a fake!!

  15. You don't say how long the rest of the mane is but still it is not likely to grow much over the next two weeks.  The tidest thing to do would be to hog it instead.  Cobs can look fabulous hogged as it shows off their top line and muscles.  Plus most judges prefer cobs to be hogged anyway so you might just get a silver lining from your storm cloud.

Then when the mane starts growing back it will all be growing the sam length (or you might even  decide you prefer it hogged!)
