How do i get my cockatiel stop pooping on me?

i just got my first cockatiel and shes beautiful! and i love taking her out and putting her on my shoulder, but every couple times i take her out she stains my shirt by pooping on me. is there any way to get her to stop?

sorry..  when nature calls, you cant stop it.

i suggest putting a rag over your shoulder before you let your bird hang out there.  that way she soils the rag and not you.

thats what i do.

ofcourse.. the trick is remembering to put the rag...

Sadly not really. You could try looking up some training websites but I have tryed with mine and it hasn't really helped. Just make sure when you have her on your shoulder that you are not wearing a really nice shirt. Anyways. Congrats on your bird. They really are the sweetest of animals.

You can't really train a bird to not p**p on you... birds in general don't have much of a concept of pooping "on" things, they just go when they need to and they don't really think much about it. Just keep an eye on her, and if she starts to back up (or wag her tail up and down, or squat) you'll know she's about to go, so you can quickly get her on your finger and then hold her out over a piece of newspaper or something so that she poops on it instead of on you.
