  1. Well,  if it's 9 yrs old, and still doesn't talk OR whistle, it might be kinda hard.

    Is he friendly?

Well, every day, or when you go to play with him ( which you should do every day )   just start whistleing and talking to him.   The more you do it, the more the chances that he will talk or whistle.    I'dd start with a word first, like hello.    So whenever you go by his cage, just repeat that word over and over, and give him treats.

Some pet store have CD's you can purchase, which teach your birds to talk.   For example, one track will all be "hello", and it repeat's it over and over and over and over and over and over  ( it gets REALLY annoying, so you might wanna put it on when you leave home )   And then, pretty soon, you will start to hear faint "hello"'s , and once that the bird knows that word, you can go to another track.

If you need anything else, contact me.

    Good Luck!

  2. FIRST YOU'VE GOT TO KNOW IF IT REALLY IS A MALE BECAUSE COCKATIELS SOMETIMES PIC A CURTAIN NOISE UP EVENTUALLY AND SING OR MAKE A STRANGE NOISE THEY'VE HEARD FOR WHILE, AND IF THAT'S NOT WORKING THEN BE MORE COMMITED, YOU KNOW LIKE TAKE IT OUT OF IT'S CAGE A LOT WHILE YOUR TEACHING IT TO WHISTLE, UM MINE HAVE NEVER LEARNED HOW TO TALK AND I'VE HAD AROUND 5 GENERATIONS OF COCKATIELS, YES I BREED THEN HERE AT MY HOUSE WHICH IN YOU CASE IS A STRANGE THING BUT SINCE IT'S SO OLD IT POBABLY THINKS IT'S NOT SUPPOSE TO MAKE NOISES, IT PROBABLY THINGS IT'S JUST SUPPOSE TO STAND THERE AND LOOK CUTE FOR YOU, BECAUSE YOUR SUPPOSE TO TEACH THEM WHEN THEY ARE AROUND 2 MONTHS OLD AND SOMETIMES IT IS POSSIBLE TO TEACH THEM BUT IN MOST CASES IT DOESN'T HAPPEN....

BUT YEAH JUST STAY COMMITED AND DO THE TAKE HIM OUT OF THE CAGE THING OK?
