How do i get my computer to run on the internet?

I have windows xp home and it jjust refuses to go online.

With XP it should be automatic make sure your browser is online in the file drop down in the menu bar.

Do you have dial-up, DSL or cable?

Try this click on tools in (internet explorer) and uncheck (work offline) if it's checked. Also close internet explorer and try this click on start.....control panel........internet options..........advanced...........rest... advanced settings.......apply.........ok!

first of all how do you want to connect to the internet via network or dialup? Second is this a built PC or PC already built by a company? third are you connecting wirelessly or wired?

If its a new computer or if xp was freshly installed make sure you put the motherboard drivers on it. If its a cable connection that should do it. Dial up is another story.

well it apears since you are here you are on the internet..

but if you are on a different machine why not tell us what is going on the os you are running any error codes you are getting what is your ipaddy? are you on dialup or broadband?

were you ever able to get on the net when did this issue happen why was going on prior to this failing to get on the internet

i can go on all night but fumbling blindly is a ppain in the butt

and does neither of us any good
