How do i get my ethernet cable to work at a hotel? help fast!?

i am trying to get my ethernet cable to work while im at the hotel. i cant do wireless cause it is all jacked up. so please can some one help me

  1. I've only done this at Hampton Inn but I suspect it's the same at most hotels...

    You need to find their network jack (call the front desk if it's not obvious) assuming they haven't gone all wireless.  Once you plug in to the jack and your computer, the little lights on either side of the plug at your computer should begin blinking.  Then it's connected.

    Once your computer recognises the connection, open Internet Explorer and try to go somewhere (anywhere...google.com is fine) and it'll give you a login screen.  Then you enter the information provided (you may need to call the front desk if they didn't give you the card) and hit submit.  That's it, you're online.


  2. Some laptops disable the Network port to save power.  Go into Control Panel > Network Connections and make sure that it is enabled.  Try right clicking and Repair.

  3. Does the hotel have a RJ-45 wall jack? If so plug one end into there and one end into your computers ethernet port.
