  1. Make sure house is clean, make sure fire detectors on all floors and carbon monoxide as well.  Be open and honest, it will be quite personal, but important to go through the journey.  Try to enroll in learning events in your area to learn about attachement issues.

    And yes be yourself!

Oh, also have cookies, social workers like cookies!

  2. I didn't do anything different in my home, you shouldn't have to... I got no forms or checklists either. My home is how it is on a normal basis...

  3. The home study is basically just a way for the agency to make sure that your home is safe and can accomodate a child.  The only thing that the agency recommended that we do was to put safety plugs in all of our outlets.

"The home study" sounds so intimidating, but it really wasn't that bad.  Stay calm, be yourself, and Good Luck!  : )

  4. plan posted clean house, all ready child safe (everything), fire extinguisher, first aid kits, fire escape, ask your social worker or the service you are using to adopt.

We sailed through ours.  We just got ready for a child that is all.

It is pretty easy.  I high urge you to check with  your social worker.

  5. Just make the safty changes recomended in the handout(you should have gotten it before the homestudy)

otherwise just be yourself. I think it's best to represent who you really are on an average day rather than trying to put on a show.

The better they know the real you the better they wil be able to match you

  6. Just make sure it's safe and there's room for a child. Nothing to worry about. Be relaxed and be yourself.

  7. Just do your normal cleaning and pick things up and let it be.  Be yourself!!

  8. From what I have read from adoptive parents on adoption WEB sites, the standards are quite low and almost anyone can pass home inspections.  They really don't care about what kind of people adopt children - all long as they can read a safety checklist and have the money.
