  1. Your computer does support the DIR614 or DIR 615 or anyother router!

Actually routers are independent devices they do not depend on any computer (once they are setup) they simply connect to the internet and pass internet traffic to your local machines!

To setup your router, connect the routers internet/wan port to your modem, connect power to the router...wait for it to fully "boot" usually about 2 minutes. Then connect your computer with an ethernet cable to any of the LAN ports on your router. Then boot the computer.

(Don't even attempt to setup your router with wireless until the router has been initially setup! Once the router is working you can indeed connect to it wirelessly! If your computer is wireless G be sure to set the wireless settings in the router to b/g/n  not just N wireless!)

You can then open a web browser (Internet Explorer) and in that address bar at the top just enter http://192.168.0.1  (that is the dlinks default web address)

You should get a Login Screen. Asking for Username and password.

Just enter  Admin for the username and leave the password blank. (unless you have previously set a password)

That will allow you to see the configuration pages on the router!

If you need specific help visit http://dlink.com  the support there is fairly good.
