Model #55539400 (made by Whirlpool).

I always thought refrigerator doors should close after you let go of them. Mine do not. They "hang" staying open.

Yes, the refrigerator has been leveled.

  1. Most models do not close by themselves. A perfectly leveled fridge will hold the doors exactl;y where you left them.

If you tilt the fridge back a little you might get them to close by themselves.

  2. Is this top freezer or side by side?  In any case, just tilt the front of the unit up slightly by adjusting the front "feet" a little longer than the rear.[s***w them 'out' or 'down'] whichever term you prefer.  Side by side doors are narrower in width making them have less of a swing radius which demands more rearward slant of the unit to get them started on their way closing.  Top freezer units doors are wider and heavier making them begin to close more readily.  Dave.

  3. When I had my new fridge delivered they explained to me that it has to be unlevel slightly for the door to swing closed.  I believe they set it tilted back slightly.  My door does close.

  4. possibly too leveled.  call your sears man.  an adjustment to tilt the fridge back a tad, will to the trick.  been there, done that.
