How do i get my media card to work for blackberry pearl?

I have a sd card i put it in my pearl and then i went to media manager and it keeps telling me that my files wont fit on my phone but i have alot of space on my media card and then when i change the options on my acutal phone the computer tells me to activate mass storage mode on my phone i already did all that what do i do

You need to go to Options > Media Card and format the card before it can be used with a blackberry.

If you have something on the card you want to keep, I suggest copying to your PC first. Once the card is formatted by the blackberry, it will contain the correct folders, in which you can re-copy your items to it from the PC.
