How do i get my movies to play through my tv. i have a s-cable...but get no pic or sound?

  1. Hi.

    An S cable is really called an S-video cable.  It carries only the picture signal, not the sound.  It delivers a better picture than the composite video jack (usually a yellow RCA connector).

    You'll have to add a stereo audio cable to the S-video cable.  They generally have red & white color-coded RCA plugs.  Or you can buy a combined S-video + audio cable.  They come in 3, 6, & 12 foot lengths commonly.

    The very newest HDTVs & DVD players have HDMI connectors that will carry both picture and sound, supposedly at better quality than the S-video cable.
