How do i get my older Cockatiel to start eating fresh fruit she doesnt touch the stuff?

  1. What we did was like the other poster said, keep giving it to her daily, just a little bit, and maybe she will try it. It took ours 3 weeks to try it.

    Also, I stood by our birds, ate the fruit from their bowl and made munching noises and kept saying , Yum, Yum. I think they imitate us.

    Also, we let ours be on the dinner table with us and they were always interested in what we were eating. I finally got ours to eat from the edge of my plate.

Cockatiels aren't really much of a fruit eater (fruits aren't part of their natural diet)  they do better with vegetables.  Start with something like broccoli and roll it in seed.  Your tiel will go after the seed and probable get some of the broccoli also.  Also tiels tend to go for broccoli because it has small pieces they can pick and and they love to tear it apart and generally end up eating some also.   From there you can try introducing other vegies.

    Also let your tiel see you eating it.  They are more likely to try something if they see other members of their "flock" eating it.
