How do i get my parakeet comfortable with my hand in the cage?

okay. well i found this parakeet floating in the hudson river about 3 months ago. we kept him and put him in a cage. but hes very skitso. if you go near the cage he runs the other way. know we know hes a pet because he has a ring around his ankle. but i want to know how to get him used to my hand beccause i want to train him. help?

  1. you can try feeding a treat(millet) outside the cage, and when he gets used to it try feeding the treat inside the cage. then move onto "hand-feeding" him, and he will get pretty used to you. there are too many ways to train a budgie, so try searching up tips on the internet.

  3. stick your hand in the cage for about 1-3 min a day and he well get us to your hand.  eventually he will try to get on your hand. don't get scared if he tries to bit you he is just making sure your hand is solid and sturdy
