  1. Tell him to sit before giving him his treats.  Make sure he acts calm and listens to you before you give him a treat.  Remember it's a TREAT, so he should behave in a good manner before receiving it.

  2. Just cut down to like 3 a day!OMG im about to get a pit bull puppy

  3. Treats, depending on what treat, are really verry fattening to your dog. Try giving him carrots, dog's generally love them and they are very healthy for your dog.

I think I just got your question. You mean your dog is kinda snapping at your hand?

If that is the case is is probably because your pup is excited. Do not give him a treat untill he can sit still for at least three seconds, then begin to give him the treat. If he jumps, pull back and make him sit again. Do this, and once you can get you hand closer to his face then give him the treat. Also, do not hold the treat with your fingertips...instead hold it out in your palm, as if you are feeding a horse. Your dog will not be able to snap at the flat surface, he will have to pry it off with his tongue...unless he is quite agressive and bites your hand, but you know your dog better then I do, so just keep in mind what I said but also observe your dog and decide what's best.

    Good luck :]

  4. Make the pup sit for a treat and place the treat in the palm of your hand, not between your fingers.Allow the dog to take the treat only if he is calm, not jumping up and crazy. Not easy with a puppy, but practice this until he "gets it".

  5. Use both hands. One for the treat, one for the puppy. Hold the puppy back and make him learn that to get a treat, it has to be on your terms. Don't let him have the treat until he takes it gently. Things like this are very important to teach him now, not later. Pittys are smart and will learn fast, but you have to start young and never let him have a second thought as to who's the alpha. Hope this helps.

  6. When you go to hand him/her the treat tell her easy, in a soft but firm voice. If he/she still goes to take it hard take it away and tell the dog no. Try giving the dog the treat while again telling the dog easy. Continue with this until he/she takes the treat easier.

  7. if mine try to grab a treat from my hand i close my hand and don't let them have it until they are gentle.
