  1. I agree with Liz that you're never ever supposed to call your dog to come to you for any kind of reprimand. That will just end up teaching the dog that when you call him/her, that there is going to be trouble and the dog is going to run. (Mine does, and I don't call her to me for trouble!)

I do this when my dog is in trouble - she goes into her crate on voice command, so when I'm mad at her, I tell her, "Get in your crate!" and when she does (she has a bed and toys in there), I take her bed and toys out and make her sit in time out with nothing to keep her attention for a while. She HATES when I take her bed away. I don't let her spend nights without it or anything, just an hour or so in her crate without it, and then I let her back out and put her bed back in.

  2. hmm....don't yell at her. thats a start.

  3. It's because of you loud and stern voice. You have to be gentle with puppy's or they will always be afraid of you and that's not good.

  4. She's scared if you yell at her. Just say it stern but not loud. Make sure she understands. Make sure she gets the idea. You can also smack the ground with a newspaper to make a loud impact to make her know it's wrong. And do not scare her away.

  5. put her in a cage..

  6. Because if you were in trouble you wouldn't come. What you should do:

    1. Call her over, not in a stern voice.

    2. Tell her to sit.

    3. Say no and point to the thing she has done.

Then go away for half an hour and then play with her. She is scared that you'll be really angry at her, but if you don't let her know that she's doing something bad then she will continue to do it.

  7. You are never supposed to call your dog to you for punishment.  NEVER.  When you use that tone of voice, all she knows is that something bad is going to happen so she runs away, which is the intelligent thing to do.  If she knew what she did was bad and that she would be punished for it, she would not have done it.  Therefore, she does not know that she did something wrong, she only knows that when you say her name in that loud, stern voice, something bad is going to be done by YOU.

  8. Remember that a puppy is a youngster, consider this, a you can shout at a child and discipline them with a rationed argument, however your dog doesn't understand you. They must think you are angry at them and they are not sure why, being young and you being much bigger makes them scared.

But do discipline them as a ***** does discipline her pups and that is needed to make them well balanced.

  9. b/c she is scared. don't use a stern voice.

  10. Dogs respond to the tone of your voice and your body language, so she knows she has done wrong. Is it possible she has been struck before as a form of punishment? If so, that may be why she avoids you when she is in trouble. If not, then she may just be timid.

  11. When she does come to you you need to reward her, no matter how angry you are about the original misdemeanor.

She'll be picking up that you're grumpy. Try and change your voice and body language so you don't seem so scary.
