my rabbit, natasha, is an adorable fuzzy lop. a few months ago we had her spayed because she was having some aggression issues. after that she was perfect. we moved her outside because we could not stand how messy she was inside. shes happy outside, so i dont think thats the root of her problem. whenever she sees me, she runs away, and when i try to pet her she thumps which i know is an aggressive thing. whenever im close to her, she growls and charges at me. but whenever she sees someone else she goes up and nudges them and wants to be picked up. what did i do wrong, and what can i do to strengthen my relationship with her? it makes me sad that i have a rabbit who hates me and i just want her to not be afraid or threatened by me what can i do?

  1. I dont think your rabbit hates you. All animals need to get use to a human, they have fear and no trust. She doesn't know your smell yet, nor does she trust you. While your watching tv or just sitting and talking place her in a cage next to you. Have a carrot or something you know she will like in the palm of your hand and hold it in the cage. Eventually she will come up to your hand and before you know it she will let you hold her. By doing this she learns your smell and how to trust. This may take a few tries but it will work. Dont force her when she's ready she will make her move and when she does she will continue to go forward.   Good Luck

  2. As the owner of a rabbit who had an incredible fear of humans I suggest letting her loose inside your room (obviously making sure that the carpet is clean and there are no wires that she can reach first). If you just sit on the floor, and make no attempts to touch her eventually she should gain confidence and start coming up to you. If you do this over a long enough period of time it should solve her problem. You could also give her a treat every time she comes up to you and lets you fuss her without growling and charging at you. Good luck!

  3. When ever you go up to the cage walk up slow so you don't scare her and try to feed her treats. Therefore, she will associate  you with pleasant experiences. Also, you should be the one to feed her and give her water. Then slowly work your way up to petting her after she trusts you.

  4. Spend more time with her, i had a rabbit once, u need tospend more time with her but dont pet her or do anything  just let her get used to you ,let her know that you love her and know that you wont hurt her and you are taking really good care of her!she'll get more use to u and she wont act like she hate you(except if she really hates you,.~~and another advice-feed her when shes real hungry or when its time to eat, everytime you come, she'll know you're feeding her and not hurting her and frankly ur family  dont like her :b.when you walk to her cage, if she doesnt growl or act like she hates you, you can start try walk her outside the cage and pet her!

  5. Try to come up to the cage slowly and don't make any sudden moves.  Try to crouch down so you don't stand above her and possibly scare her.  Try feeding her something like lettuce or a carrot by hand and pet her while she's eating.

  6. rabbits are loners they usually don't care to have human friends i have had many rabbits worth of experience you just need to be very patient, try holding natasha every day and adding a little more time every day she will soon get used to you and think of you as a rabbit :) sometimes you can also give her treats after holding and taking care of her she may look forward to spending time with you

  7. this might sound kinda weird but maybe its your scent...she might feel threatened by your or something...so when you go to clean out her cage try putting something in her cage or nest box that smells like you so she will get used to your scent...and like someone else said just sit near her cage and she will get used to you and then try to pet/play with her...gradually of course
