  1. well, when you hold them hold one at a time and just say their name while petting them. do something like that.

  2. Ive had plenty rats and have never been able to make them learn their names.

Not that ive tried hard, im not sure they are capable of it.

  3. They are rats they will never learn their names that is like trying to teach a fish their name. sorry but it's true.

  4. Eachtime you pick them up, gently say their name.

    Short names are good too.

Also click your tongue '*click click* tobyyyy' etc.

Reward them yes, but watch the fat-levels!

  5. pick them up and just say their names over and over even record it and play it to them as they sleep it worked for me

  6. I have kept rats myself and this is a conundrum. Firstly how old are they? If they are older than year you might have problems.

But the best way is the reward scheme. Seperate the one your teaching and call their name. If they approach you, give them a treat, not daily food, but a treat treat.

Start by saying their name in a friendly voice every time you feed them or give them a treat. They will eventually start coming to you when you say their name, as they are expecting to be fed. It doesn't take them long to figure things out when food is involved!

  8. namecards, it worked with my ant farm

  9. kepp calling them?

  10. There's no way to get a rat to acknowledge their name or even having a name.  You can however use pitch to get them to respond.  They'll never understand the meaning of a name, but for each rat you have you can say their name in a different pitch.  Lets say....

you have a rat named "rat"

You go into the room and say "rat" in a high pitched tone and them take him out of the cage.  After time he will be conditioned to know that the high pitched sound means he'll be able to come out of his/her cage. You can use treat rewards or pay attention to only a certain rat when your speaking in a certain pitch. Thats as close as you'll be able to get with name acknowledgment in rats.

  11. You need to transplant human brains into your rats.

  12. that is retarded
