  1. Finderscopes do not all focus the same way.  You'll have to experiment with yours to see what works.

One type has a lock ring on the objective lens housing.  You loosen the ring, rotate the housing to focus, and then tighten the ring.

Another type will have a set s***w that holds the eyepiece in place.  You loosen the set s***w, adjust the eyepiece to focus, and then tighten the set s***w.

Another type has a focusing ring on the eyepiece itself.  You grip the ring and turn to focus.

Another type has two focusing rings on the eyepiece.  You turn one to focus the eyepiece and another to focus the cross hairs.

Another type has a rack and pinion type focuser.  You turn one or both of the k***s below the eyepiece to focus.

Finally, I've also seen helical type focusers.  You twist the entire eyepiece to focus.

  2. You are losing focus ...eh

  3. These scopes are often made so that the cell holding the objective lens will s***w in and out for focus. Try turning it and see if that focuses it. Sometimes it works on the eyepiece too, though on mine adjusting the eyepiece puts the crosshairs out of focus.

  4. There must be some kind of adjustment threads on the barrel of the eyepiece or maybe a setscrew to hold it in focus, which you may be overlooking.  If you find it focus it and lock it in place.  If your lenses are plastic, oxidation may be the problem.  A brandname would help with this question.  Then a website could be found to give current direct info.

If unavailable, try Edmund Scientific for a replacement scope that has these adjustment capabilities, and is mountable to your telescope.  You will see a lot of cool stuff there too.
